In Rumah Seniman -Artists House, situated just outside Ubud, Bali, Studio Glick Yang has created a beautiful show home with no local precedent.
Carefully sited in landscaped farmland this house uses local materials and encompasses both traditional Balinese open plan pavilion architecture and contemporary design sensibilities.
Elements such as passive solar integration, layered wooden shingled roofs, black water system, composting area for kitchen waste and a radical rusted steel portaframe construction combine to play a vital role in the houses aesthetic.
